Welcome to September's BEAT PIERS challenge!

This month is a Press-Up & Sit-Up challenge. How many press-ups can you do in 60 secs, followed by how many sit-ups can you do in 60 secs? (With 60 secs rest in between.)

Please see the two videos on PulseNet - the first explaining the rules of the challenge and the second recording my effort and your BEAT PIERS challenge total!

Spoiler alert: it's 83!

Please register for this challenge today - you've got the rest of the month to train and to BEAT PIERS, but you've got to be in it to win it!

And now - by popular demand:

We are going to open up the BEAT PIERS challenges to your families!

Yes, your partner and your children can also compete against each other and other families. Points will be awarded for every challenge they take part in, with those points contributing to their own annual competition (but not the main Cup). So, get training together as a family now, while Wilhelm tweaks the website to permit their sign-up and make provision for their scoring and annual competition ranking!

Good luck!

How it works on the site

  • Sign up on the Beat Piers page, then log any attempt, any time, as one combined number (press-ups plus sit-ups). Put the split in the note.
  • Your best attempt counts. Log again whenever you beat it.
  • Nothing to upload when you log. Keep your videos - an official will ask for the video of your best attempt before the month is banked.
  • Reporting closes at the end of 1 October.

Families: how it works on the site

Piers opened Beat Piers to your partners and children, and the website now supports it.

  • Add your family on your profile page: name and age group - under 6, 6 to 11, 12 to 15, or 16 and over with the partners. No login or email needed for them.
  • Log their attempts yourself from the Submit activity form. It now asks "Who is this for?" - pick yourself or the family member.
  • They appear on the Family board on the Beat Piers page, ranked on result within their age group, with a "beat Piers" badge if they clear his 83.
  • Nothing family counts towards the Cup. The staff leaderboard and section points are untouched. The family board is its own competition.
  • Same rules as for us this month: one combined number of press-ups plus sit-ups, log any attempt any time, best one counts, and keep the video for verification at the end of the month.
  • Family members' names appear on the public Beat Piers page, the same as ours.
