October Beat Piers: a 5km, and points for everyone

Now to October's BEAT PIERS Challenge - something different from last month, and something that every single person in SO should take part in, particularly as it's now getting cooler. And it's SO simple:

A 5km Challenge - and points for EVERYONE who participates!!

This month, I'm going to work towards my best 5km time alongside you, and there will be points for every person who participates - so really, you are competing against yourself to improve your time over the month. There will be the 'racing-snakes' 🐍 who will charge round in under 20 minutes, and then there are those who (like me) will walk πŸšΆβ€β™€οΈ the 5km (building on August's STEP Challenge), and everything in between. And that's all absolutely fine - do what you can do and challenge yourself to improve. Family involvement welcomed - so you can train and compete as a family as well!

So:

Sign up ✍️, get your trainers on πŸ‘Ÿ, find yourself a convenient 5km route πŸ—ΊοΈ, get practising πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ, record it on Strava (or any other app) πŸ“±, challenge yourself to bring down your time over the month ⏱️, submit your best time in early Nov πŸ’», and earn loads of points for your team πŸ’―.

On the site

  • Sign up on the Beat Piers page.
  • Only runs and walks done in October count. Submit your best time by Sunday 1 November.
  • On the submit form, type Run or Walk, distance 5 km, and your time as mm:ss (for example 32:45). Add a screenshot or link from your app.
  • Everyone who takes part scores - Piers sets how many points at the end of the month. Beat his own best 5km and you score more on top.
  • Family: add partners and children on your profile and log their 5km from the submit form. They get their own board, by age group, and it doesn't count towards the Cup.
